PCP, its salts and ethers - Overview
PCP, its salts and ethers Summary
PFO's are used as surface-active compounds (surfactants) in a wide range of chemical products, typically in products that demand compounds with a high chemical or thermal stability. Examples are fire fighting foams, lubricants, petroleum fuels. PFO's are used in the manufacture of high temperature fluoro-polymers and fluoro-elastomers. These compounds also have non-stick properties and can be used to repel dirt and water in textiles, footwear, glue, paint, floor polish and cookware.
Pentachlorophenol and related compounds (collectively referred to as chlorophenols) are used in the preservation of wood; to impregnate fibers in heavy duty textiles, clothing and furniture; as a bactericide in tanning and the paper pulp industry; as pesticides; and as sterilizing agents.
