Introduction

Germany has transposed, insofar as necessary, and implemented the EU legislation imposing restrictions on chemical substances in electrical and electronic equipment (EEE), including the RoHS Directive (Directive 2002/95) and the REACH Regulation (Annex XVII) (Regulation 1907/2006).

Germany has not enacted any chemical restrictions going beyond the restrictions imposed by EU legislation.

For an overview of the REACH Regulation's various programs and requirements (registration, notification, supply chain information, authorization, and restrictions), please refer to EU Restricted Substance page.

For substance-specific information, please use the restricted substance database. In addition to the chemical restrictions discussed in this report, Germany also impose restrictions on certain chemicals in batteries (Directive 2006/66) and packaging (Directive 94/62, as amended). Please refer to the country reports for these topics on EIATRACK.
