Published January 3, 2005
Slovakia
The final text has been published of the proposal that requires a conformity assessment for listed products including textiles and footwear. It regards an amendment to Law No 264/1999 Z. z. These new measures entered into force as of January 1st 2005 and will be valid for 1 year.
The legislation is not available in English, neither are there guidelines on how to perform the conformity assessment.
Upon questions on the procedure and whether self testing is allowed, our contact person indicates that the minimum procedure a producer needs to use is indicated in the last column of Table in the Annex to the requirements. This column indicates (b+c or a). For module a) self-testing is allowed. In addition our contact explains that all tests can be performed in a foreign laboratory provided this laboratory is accredited to perform those tests.
It is furthermore indicated that the documents are needed for the purpose of control by the market surveillance authority. Producers from Slovakia and third countries must fulfil the indicated minimum procedure. As far as EU producers are concerned, this measure is applicable only if they are not able to declare the same level of safety as required by the measure. If EU producers are able to declare this same level of safety, this is sufficient according to our contact.
