Denmark announces plans for national ban on phthalates

Danish environment minister Hans Christian Schmidt has promised a national ban on use of all endocrine-disrupting chemicals in children's toys, next year at the latest. The minister made the announcement in a reaction to NGO claims that certain toys contain a range of toxic substances. If the EU fails to develop restrictive legislation on phthalates, "then Denmark will proceed ahead alone" , Mr Schmidt said.
