EU adopts draft decision banning DMF in consumer products

European Union - Restricted Substances Overview

On 29 January 2009 a draft European Commission Decision was adopted to ban dimethylfumarate (DMF) in consumer products, such as leather furniture or footwear. Member States voted in favour of a draft Decision to ensure that consumer products containing the strongly sensitising DMF are not placed on the market in the EU. If these products are already on the market, they will have to be recalled and withdrawn without delay.
