Restricted Substances Overview

On September 26 ECO-TRACK subscribers and any interested staff members are invited to attend a conference call on the impacts of the REACH regulation and a regular review of the developments in restricted substances affecting the clothing, footwear and sportswear products.

The meeting will start at 8.00am September 26 USA (Pacific time), 11.00am USA (Eastern), 5.00 pm Europe (Central), 4.00 pm Europe (UK), it will take approximately 60 minutes.

The guest speaker on REACH issues will be Dr. Ted Richards who details are provided below.

Dr Ted Richards, Principal Toxicologist, WSP Environmental, one of the UK's leading experts on REACH, having tracked and advised on the development of the Directive for the past six years. He has over 22 years industrial experience, over 16 of which have been spent working in the fields of environmental and regulatory affairs. Experience in Product Stewardship led to Ted been invited to join the Supply Chain Leadership Group, which was set up by the Chemicals Industry Association and the British Retailers Consortium to address information flow up and down the supply chain. Ted has drawn up a Best Practice Guidance document for the textile and clothing sector that has been used as a template for other supply chains. Ted is also currently Chairman of the Global Acetate Manufacturers Association (GAMA) Regulatory Affairs Committee. He also sits on various committees in other trade associations including the UK Chemical Industry Association (CIA). Acting in the role of a consultant within industry Ted has provided businesses with expertise in toxicology, environmental risk assessments, emerging legislation and Product Stewardship issues, assisting businesses to gain a competitive advantage thru proper product risk management. Ted has both a BSc and PhD in Chemistry from the UK as well as post-doctoral experience in Organic Chemistry at the University of Minnesota, USA, and an MSc in Toxicology.
